Dr. Laurel Cholmsky

Dr. Cholmsky is a registered psychologist with the College of Psychologists of Ontario. She provides psychological services to children, adolescents, and their families. She conducts psycho-educational assessments to evaluate learning difficulties, ADHD, giftedness, developmental concerns, behavioral, and emotional issues. She also provides therapy services to children and adolescents who present with a wide variety of challenges including anxiety, OCD, behavioral difficulties, depression, low self-esteem, interpersonal problems, grief, selective mutism, tics, and difficulty adjusting to life changes. She primarily uses a cognitive-behavioral framework, but she also has training and experience in other evidence-based approaches such as collaborative problem solving, the SPACE Program (a parent-based intervention for reducing childhood anxiety), and CBIT (an intervention for tics). Dr. Cholmsky tailors her work to each family’s unique needs, and works collaboratively with children, their parents, and their schools to maximize each child’s potential.

Dr. Cholmsky received her doctorate in clinical psychology from McGill University. Her pre-doctoral internship was completed at the Montreal Children’s Hospital and her post-doctoral training was at the Center for Psychological Services, University of Virginia. Prior to returning to Canada, she was a licensed clinical psychologist in Virginia where she provided psychological services at the UVA Center for Psychological Services and in Albemarle County Public Schools. She also provided supervision and training to graduate students in the Curry Programs in Clinical and School Psychology at UVA. She has been with the Delta Psychology Group since 2010.
